The UK Amazon Web Services User Group is a the place to connect with people who are as excited about the potential of Amazon Web Services as you are — people who want to know more about how it is changing the way we develop, scale and manage the next generation of sites and servers.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a cloud-based infrastructure platform, offering services such as computing capacity , database and storage, available on demand, priced as a utility, and controlled by web services.
Launched in July 2006, Amazon Web Services exposes Amazon’s technological infrastructure. They offer what they call “the fundamental building blocks of business”, geared towards allowing people to focus on their core business and their ideas. AWS offerings are based on a per-usage pricing structure and use standards-based REST and SOAP interfaces designed to work with any Internet-development toolkit. You pay for what you use – computing power, bandwidth and storage is all billed per hour, but you can turn it on and off as you please.
As well as this website, the UK AWS users’ group runs a Google group/mailing list, and semi-regular meetups throughout the UK.
